Shakhtar U-19 goalkeeper Vladimir Segeda decided to suspend his football career in order to defend Ukraine. The 18-year-old football player is already undergoing training at one of the training centers.
Volodymyr was born in Luhansk, since childhood he has been involved in various sports – diving, volleyball and football. After the start of the war in 2014, he left for Sumy with his family, trained at Bars Sumy, and then at UFC Dnipro, where he managed to attract the attention of Shakhtar.
At the Pitmen’s academy, he proved himself to be a brave and courageous goalkeeper, was involved in the U-19 team. After the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the guy was evacuated to Croatia along with his academy partners. However, he soon made a conscious decision to return to Ukraine to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“I thought for a long time and made a decision for myself to return to Ukraine. I just can’t just sit there when there’s a war going on in my country. I never thought about becoming a military man, but now my Motherland needs it. Playing football is my lifelong dream and I don’t give it up. After the Victory, I would like to return to football,” says Vladimir.
