On Sunday, May 21, “Rukh” will receive fellow countrymen from “Lvov”. If the “citizens” do not defeat the Rukhites, then three rounds before the finish of the championship they are already officially demoted and transferred from the Premier League to the First League.
In the last round, both Lviv clubs were defeated. “Rukh” is in the zone of transitional matches with representatives of the First League. The Yellow-Blacks are well aware that a lot depends on the upcoming UPL matches, in particular on the Lviv derby. Here is the pre-match opinion of Rukh’s head coach Vitaly Ponomarev: “All the matches we have left until the end of the season are extremely important. They are like finals. It is clear that we are preparing only for victories in all fights. We have nowhere to retreat, we need to score points in all fights. That is why we are preparing seriously. Guys, in principle, work at the proper level. I can’t say that there is an underestimation of Lvov, everyone is very seriously tuned in, because they realize that there is a responsible game ahead.”
“Citizens” after the defeat from “Metalist” increased the losing club anti-record series in the Premier League up to 9 games. Lviv players do not score the same number of games in a row in away matches. In addition, Lviv’s goalless streak lasts 315 minutes in the league. Under Anatoly Bessmertny, Lviv has not yet played a draw on the opponents’ fields – in 10 matches: a victory and nine defeats. Lviv defender Sergiy Siminin can play his 200th game in the Premier League. Due to the bust of yellow cards, the Lviv derby will be missed by the attacking “townspeople” Bohdan Myshenko.
Earlier “Lviv” and “Rukh” played four games and the balance of the meetings speaks about the equality of forces: one victory of the opponents and two draws. The previous home match between the Rukhites and the Citizens took place on August 29, 2021 and ended with a 1-0 victory for the home team. Lviv’s Brazilian legionnaire Renan Oliveira scored the only goal, who cut the ball into his own net in the middle of the second half. The match of the first round of the current championship ended with the victory of “Lviv” – 2:1. Vladislav Bugay and Boris Krushinsky scored goals for the “citizens”, while Nigerian Viv Solomon-Otabor scored for the Rukhites.
Maxim Kozyryatsky (Zaporozhye), who played 48 games in the UPL, was appointed referee of the match. Previously, “Rukh” under Kozyryatsky played four matches in the championships and has not yet won, having drawn twice and suffered two defeats. Lviv played 9 games in the UPL with this referee: three wins, two draws and four losses. Lviv derby Kozyryatsky will judge for the first time.
