On Thursday, May 18, the return match of the 1/2 finals of the Europa League between the clubs Sevilla and Juventus took place. The game ended 2-1 in favor of the Spanish team after extra time.
In the first meeting in Italy, the opponents tied 1:1. Based on the sum of two matches, Sevilla reached the final of the Europa League, which will play against Roma in the match for the trophy.
After the end of the match, the head coach of Juventus Massimiliano Allegri commented on the departure of the team from the LE:
“The team did what they had to do. Details matter. I just have to thank the guys for everything they’ve done and I feel sorry for them.
When you play such important matches, every moment is important, you must not let go from a goal scored to a goal conceded. But we played a good game and those are the steps a team should take, especially guys with little experience.”
Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny:
“If I make a lot of saves, that’s a bad sign of our game. The saves I made are useless because we lost. This remains a big disappointment.
We were too uncertain after we scored the goal. We caused pressure on ourselves, and they were very dangerous. Ironically, when you score a goal in such an atmosphere, this is the most difficult moment. However, we have not reached the level required to win.”
Juventus defender Danilo:
“This defeat hurts because we are well prepared to play against a difficult opponent in a hostile environment. The guys tried, we made a mistake in some details. However, we, the more experienced players, should take responsibility, not the younger guys who will need this match to grow. They are the future of Juventus.
